Prominent private sector lender, IndusInd Bank, announced the launch of its pilot Whatsapp Engagement System – a dedicated enterprise solution that will help the bank communicate information on transactions to its customers through Whatsapp. The bank has also made it possible for customers to engage with designated bank representatives through the messaging service – a dedicated number will be assigned to customers by the bank to carry out the same.
This comes as quite a welcome step in the fast-evolving “smart financial solutions” landscape, with many Fintech companies and lending institutions evolving smart technologies to make banking services more accessible and seamless.
All that customers will have to do is save the bank’s dedicated Whatsapp number on their smartphones and begin a conversation. The process is expected to be dished-out in calculated phases, taking into account several aspects of privacy, security, and transparency.
Using this service, customers can access various types of banking services including checking of account balances, updating their Aadhaar details, checking accumulated reward points, getting account statements, and more.
Ritesh Raj Saxena, IndusInd’s Head of Digital, Payments and Savings, said that this move comes as one of many in providing on-the-go social banking services, and expand the company’s footprint in the growing smart financial services landscape.
